The main and continuously growing issue is represented by fraud schemes hidden behind fake investments, sham innovative projects, phishing attacks, compromised wallets, and cloned platforms imitating legitimate services. The technology itself is solid, but the surrounding environment is often far from secure. Blockchain technology works exactly as designed. The weak point, as is often the case, is not the code but the human being who uses it. Scams mainly exploit: limited technical knowledge; misplaced trust; promises of quick profits; the urgency of “not missing out on an opportunity.” The Most Common Types of Blockchain Fraud. Fake crypto investments and projects: professionally drafted white papers, AI-generated images and videos of awards or events, polished websites, seemingly solid teams, and “visible” profits displayed on dedicated dashboards. Phishing and credential theft: emails, messages, or websites that perfectly imitate official exchanges and wallet providers. Malicious or poorly written smart contracts: not all smart contracts are reliable. Some contain hidden functions, while others are simply badly coded. In both cases, the risk is losing control of one’s assets without immediately realizing it. What Can Be Done in Case of Fraud? In the blockchain environment, once a transaction has been executed, there is no “refund”: this is not a flaw of the system, but one of its structural features. It is precisely this irreversibility that makes fraud particularly insidious. However, it is possible to: analyze on-chain transactions; reconstruct financial flows; identify suspicious addresses and connections; produce technical reports suitable for use in legal proceedings. When properly analyzed, blockchain becomes an extremely detailed source of evidence.
