Stefano Sbordoni, a Court of Cassation lawyer registered with the Bar Association of Rome, is the founder of the law firm Sbordoni&Partners and is considered one of the leading Italian and international experts in public gaming and betting law. He teaches Gaming Tax Legislation at the Department of Political, Social, and Communication Sciences at the University of Salerno, lectures at the School of Economics and Finance, and has taught courses for public concessionaires at the University of Malta. He advises the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) on administrative law issues relating to the gaming and betting sector, and is a consultant to major Italian and international gaming operators. In his many years of experience in the gaming and betting sector, he has worked, among other things, on the regulation of bingo, the reorganization of the gaming sector through public tenders, the privatization of instant lotteries, and the marketing of games and lotteries in over forty countries worldwide. Also an expert in the reinsurance sector, he was responsible for underwriting the aeronautical branch and the Treaties and Excess of Loss sector of leading international reinsurance companies, as well as being responsible for the Italian Portfolio and the Contractual Dispute Service both in Italy and in the UK. He is a regular speaker at major gaming and betting conferences in Italy and around the world, organized by government agencies and the A.D.M. He is a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law and of the Presidential Committee of the GiocareItalia Confederation, and General Secretary of the U.T.I.S. (Italian Sports Totoricevitori Italiani Sportivi Union). He is also a freelance journalist and contributes to some of the world’s leading online gaming magazines (Chambers Gaming Law, Advennt) and has collaborated with leading gaming publications in Italy (TS, Jamma, Agicos). He has published articles for the Academy of European Law and edited the course notes for the Computer Law course at the University of Tuscia on “Electronic Gaming” and for training courses at the School of Economics and Finance. He is the author of the following monographs on games and betting: “Concessionary Games and Online Games”, “Guide to the Laws and Regulations of Games and Betting”, “Concessionary Games and Online Games”, “Web, Freedom and Law”.
